Death Penalty Action is an amazing organization that fights to see the death penalty abolished. Executive Director Abraham Bonowitz is a driving force behind this work. He will tell you that there was a time when he didn't consider the death penalty as detrimental; however, as I sit in my office writing in support of Death Penalty Action, Mr. Bonowitz is in Oklahoma. 79 year old Bigler Jobe "Bud" Stouffer II, who clings to his innocence, is facing execution. Governor Kevin Stitt has rejected the recommendation that his sentence be commuted to life. Unless he is granted a stay, the government will take his life at 10 am this coming Thursday at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary. Since the mid 1070's, there have been 186 United States citizens executed that have later been found innocent of the crimes they were convicted of. Take a look at some of the pivotal work this organization has been involved in.

Currently assisting our Ohio partner to stop all scheduled executions in the state and helped lead a major 10-day tour throughout the state in October 2019
