Just so you know...

On July 16th of this year, 2021, a 23 year old woman lost her life in the Jackson County, Indiana Jail. Her name is Ta'Neasha Chappell. She was a daughter, a sister, a mother, and a friend. On the 16th of November, 2021, an event took place at the Jackson County  Courthouse where her family shared their feelings of loss with our community. This young woman was arrested for shoplifting and paid with her life. She was a Black woman in a predominately White jail; I have been told that she found a noose in her cot. While the cause of death has not yet been released, there were toxic chemicals found in her system. Her pleas for help went unanswered. Up to her death, Ta'Neasha pled with her family to get her out of jail; she was threatened on a daily basis and was terrified. The tapes of what went on in the jail have not yet been released.
